I wish Tim Horton’s would over-expand down here. I miss that place so much… Krispey Kremes are just round little greasewheels. Bleh. ---

I’d also like to point out that Krispy Kreme didn’t exactly inflate their numbers – they’re naturally fluffy because of the yeast. ---

Oh, they can be pretty good (I’m not a fan of the plain ones) when fresh. Dunkin Donuts is the only big chain I know about even remotely around here, and I find them to be too dry. But anyway, most fresh-baked ones in stores are better. The only time we get packages of donuts is in the evening if we want something for the morning. ---

I was going to mention the same thing \*\*Lissa \*\* did, but I’ve been beaten to it, so I’ll add that Tim Horton, while known as a doughnut shop, isn’t. It’s a diner. They _started_ as a doughnut place, but in the past decade have transformed into a fast-food restaurant with decent, healthy food. And good coffee. But right now, something like 15% or less of their sales are doughnuts… And if the best known doughnut shop in Canada sells so few doughnuts, how the fuck was a company that sold nothing but doughnuts supposed to survive? That, and KK gave them away free when you walked in, so if you only wanted one doughnut, you no longer had any interest in buying anything :rolleyes: ---

Another Tim’s is opening up down the road from me, so that makes 2 within walking distance (3 if you include gas stations), and at the very least 6 within a 5 minute drive. 😃 ---
