# Kurzweil Says Immortality 20 Years Away

Hasn’t there been talk of flipping the switch on our [immortality gene](http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn3786&print=true) to halt aging?

If so, we’re not just talking about extrapolating the effects of better health care.

According to [Alex Chiu](http://www.alexchiu.com/), we do have immortality now.
