# Kwami Kilpatrick and Detroit

Kwami has been Detroits mayor and controversy has followed him. He was accused of wild stripper parties in the mansion. He has been accused of wasting tax money for personal use. He has now been found to be having a n affair with Beaty his chief of staff. It was found out and emails to between them were aired. The emails showed an affair .and meetings apparently on tax payer monies.
The beauty is he has gone to court wanting the emails not to be used against him, presumably on the basis of privacy. The papers refer this as an email controversy. Sex and money wasting are ignored. It is an email controversy.

I forgot another story. Reportedly there was a hooker party in the mansion. Kwamis wife came in and the hooker was caught with him. The hooker disappeared. I believe she was found dead. The story keeps resurfacing. Fun in the big D.

Everywhere you go it bis discussed. The TV always refers to the email controversy. If you read the papers it is referred that way too. But if you read the whole story it gets to the point eventually.
The mother of the stripper who was murdered has tried to rekindle the story.

You know, straight-up sex is as old as man and stories about it have lost some their cache. Text messaging is a fewly new technology and, therefore, its part in the all-consuming lurid love affair will capture the attention of the masses more completely.

Nice. Do you have evidence, or do you think that conspiracy theories have their own innate credibility and so don’t require any evidence or critical thought?

Then there was a 8,5 million dollar law suit the city paid because Kwamis body guards were abusing overtime. When the police who blew the whistle were retaliated against, they sued. Could have settled much cheaper but Kwami insisted on a day in court. Cost to Detroit, about 6 more mil.

I think whether something is inherently plausible or supported by evidence has a bearing on whether it is interesting. Implying (and don’t for a minute deny that you did) that Kilpatrick’s henchmen killed a hooker at his behest is just wild-eyed conspiracy theorizing (for which you have presented no evidence). But your posting history hasn’t indicated that evidence ranks as a real high priority for you.

I started this thread because another thread about Detroit cars was visited by someone who thought it was about Kwami Kilpatrick. I do not follow Kwami very much ,so I started to look him up. Turns out to be a facinating story. The hooker thing ,I did not even remember,the text messaging and sex thing is current ,so I was aware of it. Most of it is new to me. I have no vendetta against him.

Your spelling his name right, and _not_ starting a Pit thread about him, with his name in the title no less, would go a long way toward convincing me that you have no vendetta against him.

[here’s another ‘debate’ from an email thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=452813) .
Problem is, this particular rant is about a very real scandal, but our OP isn’t really big on details. These emails have become more important 'cause the situation came about due to a whistle blower lawsuit against the city of d-troit about the mayor’s actions. Mayor and paramour both testified that there was no relationship. Prosecutor Kim WOrthy is looking into perjury charges for both.
So, what you have (probably) is a corrupt mayor who ran the city like his own personal treasure cheast, when first faced w/allegations that could bring him down, he lied about it in court and it’s now unraveling. SO, in addition to the original financial malfeasance, his coverup activities have generated another huge cost to the financially crippled city.

Not trying to convince you. I am finding out about him now. There is much I did not know. He occupied zero amount of my thoughts until today. If I were following him I would have probably known it was an e at the end. Of course the entire discussion is irrelevant if the i is there.
