When I worked for 7-11 way-back-when, we actively encouraged officers to visit our stores with offers of free coffee and drinks, a snack, and any must-have items such as batteries for non-working flashlights. Certainly, 7-11 suffered less robberies when the police were present in the store (although I was robbed at gunpoint two times at one particularly poorly placed store…but there were no coffee-drinking cops present at the time of the robberies). Perhaps donut shops do the same. ---

**tomndebb** , sorry man I looked everywhere on google but I couldn’t find shit but I thought it was common knowledge that poverty in inner cities was a result of police corruption among other factors. I know I don’t have any cites but a police presence usually makes inner cities worse I know from experience and I’m sorry but that’s all I got. If you want examples, tell me and I’ll list some but if you don’t want personal experience but just cites I can’t help you and I’ve tried looking. I’ll name some non-personal things but still common abuses by police to poor citizens. Obeying the drug laws and arresting poor citizens for drugs even though that’s probably the only income they have, police harrasement for minorites, and ticketing them for minor offense when they’re already poor. I think you’re just pissed because a Batman-like vigilante would do the police’s job a thousand times better. All yor cop friends will probably be stuffing their faces with donuts when they see someone more effective at protecting the citizens. Even if a vigilante like that never comes along (I think it will eventually but I have been wrong before), the people will demand better law enforment officers. I know I said I think the majority are lacking, shitface, but I still think there are some good in shape cops out there but they are definetly in the minority. ---

Ah, so you admit that you lied. What the hey…why exactly do you think they are in the minority when your own belated research, according to you, fails to support your assertion? BTW, here’s how real scientists (as opposed to those in comic books) do it: they examine the evidence and only then do they develop a hypothesis. ---

What sort of training? Perhaps Ninjitsu as practiced by the Legion of Shadows? Most cops I know spend a hell of a lot of time in the gym and generally watch their diet. In any event if you really think that someone operating with no oversight, without any sort of review of their actions, would be more conducive to public safety and order than a legitimate police force operating under the law, you are beyond the reach of reason. Batman is a fantasy. He could not exist in the real world. Vigilantism is wrong and dangerous for a host of reasons that should be obvious to anyone who gives the matter ten seconds of thought. ---

Not getting cranky. I didn’t start cursing until **Monty** and Larry Borgia did. When I say Batman-like I don’t mean Batman himself I mean someone like him with the similar mindset and fitness (which many cops lack). Why am I the only one thing that it’s possbile but unlikely? No one thinks anyone will get tired of the inepitude of the police departments and demand better service even going out to do it themselves. ---

Yeah, Larry, cops never shoot people by mistake or abuse them just because of their race. That never happens. No police coverups, either. We all know that’s fantasy. Well, some training maybe not as much as comic-book Batman but training enough to get the job done. He would have to carry weapons (not batarangs) but if he used guerillla warfare he would be okay. Even if he got killed which would be plausible maybe he would inspire someone to take his place.
