I finally deleted it and I finally was able to work it up enough to talk about it without using a four letter word for every other one… My niece’s first communion was last Saturday. On Friday my sister in law sent a whatsap to everybody who was invited reminding us of the occcasion, to wear our best clothes (actually no dear, I’m saving those for the wedding of your brother in law and kiss my ass), be on time and on our best behavior and “We’ll be so glad to see you there!” It was a cross between a corporate announcement, a chapter of Sesame Street and a multi-ton bag of saccharine. And impolite as all get go, because at least where I come from, that announcement implies that she expects people would either forget the occasion or not know how to behave. Then again, she doesn’t, so I guess the last is justified. This is the same woman who couldn’t understand why people didn’t want to attend her birthday parties when they were held in a place where we had to pay to enter (and she wouldn’t cover it), the meal was potluck and she was also expecting presents, which had to be exactly to spec even though she wouldn’t give exact specs. The woman wouldn’t understand real manners if a hardcopy manual thereof fell on her from a fifth floor. ---

One of our dogs has lost a bit of weight in the last couple of months. Had blood workup done – he’s got low protein and low albumin and isn’t losing it through urination. He’s had digestive issues since he was a puppy and his original family never picked up on it. The ultrasound is going to be over $500. We can’t pay it all up front and our vet doesn’t take partial payments ☹ Our other dog needs a tooth extraction. The bill for that will roughly be $400 for the surgery itself, never mind the extraction and whatever else is found. I committed a major sin when I told my husband that, after both are gone, I don’t want any more pets for awhile. ---

I’m not sure there is a word for how impolite it would be to send the message to those who are not. Maybe Finnish has a word for that. Or Japanese. I hear they’re very keen on degrees of politeness, the Japanese, they may have multiple words for degrees of rudeness. The only guests who needed the address of the church are the ones from out of town, all “from her”; every local guest attends Mass there routinely. Mom’s address is Churchystreet 7 and that church happens to be very popular, she gets a bird’s-eye view of about 1/3 of the weddings in town. Sending that message to her out-of-town guests (the same ones who only set foot in a church when they have a PARTY!!!) would have been correct, but those of us who can tell a pew from an altar already knew where the church was, which one was the family pew (which is completely irrelevant to those who have any churchy manners anyway), and we even _gasp_ could be heard taking part in the singing! In fact, one of the families invited is in the chorus (the parents sing, the mother plays guitar, the teen plays percussion). I didn’t ask them, but I do suspect that SiL-dearest also sent them the instructions… must make sure they will not get lost! Oh, and I say “her” out of town guests because they certainly aren’t Paula’s. They’re friends and relatives of SiL that she invites to everything. Note that the only friends of my brother’s who get invited are that trio from the chorus, and that because the boy happens to be one of my nephew’s best friends and “we must invite someone for [the nephew]”. ---

I’m not going there, this is the SiL to which I’m civil but not trying for more. I was already happy in that, thanks I guess to my brother Jay’s upcoming wedding (where Mom will be the “godmother”, one of the main witnesses), I was able to prevent Mom from [trying to be](http://www.musica.com/letras.asp?letra=811268) the bride in the wedding, the child in the baptism, the corpse in the funeral to make sure she’s noticed. Cecilia didn’t mention First Communions but I’m sure it was just an oversight on her part. Mom and SiL are cut from the same cloth. ---

I’ve spent a frustrating day trying to get UberEATS to work. We’re not happy with Doordash here at work, so we thought we’d switch to UberEATS. I can send links to the menu of a participating restaurant from the UberEATS website, but no recipient can open the links. I tried sending from two different browsers. I got IT involved, but they’re slammed working on far more important issues than the bugginess of a delivery website. I tried printing out a paper copy of the damned menu off the website, but it comes out garbled. So screw UberEATS. It may work fine from someone’s phone, but trying to use it from a work computer sucks. It’s back to Doordash and their crappy interface and deliveries which are missing a couple of items every time. ---

Over the past couple of days, I’ve had both a migraine AND a pollen allergy/asthma flareup. Joy! My allergist told me to take some of the emergency steroids I keep in the house. Started Wednesday. I don’t know how I felt Thursday, because I woke up with a migraine, and the migraine + migraine meds knocked me out. This morning I woke up and everything hurts. He was going to let me pay over a few months but it felt weird\* so I paid the whole amount from the paycheck the next week. It was still $200 cheaper than if I’d just gone to a tire store, it was much less painful than it could’ve been. But still, frustrating to see the cushion go WOOSH! ETA: I’m trying to be thankful that I had the cash in the bank. It’s hard, because the discipline to keep it there is hard. \*\*No actual weirdness. We’ve known each other for over ten years. I looked for an app for my tablet, but it was “not compatible with this device”. It’s a three-month-old Samsung Galaxy. WTF?? So we had Domino’s. For Mother’s Day. Thanks, UberEATS. :rolleyes: ---

Granted, it’s a corporate account, so the service might be at a different level altogether, but it’s rare that they mess up an order, and even if / when they do, they’ll fix their mistake. One time, I grabbed a coworker’s lunch by mistake (even though it was clearly labeled - I just thought I’d be the only person who ordered a side of chicken salad and a side of tuna salad for lunch). When I started on the second item, it was egg salad, and since I was starving that day, I had our receptionist contact the company (not the restaurant). They said they were sure that they got my order correct, but they’d go ahead and send my “correct” side dish. Felt horrible when I realized it was due to my mistake (around 4 pm when I heard the coworker complaining that her food hadn’t arrived)\*, and not theirs, but I never told them. They’ve done that a few times in the 3+ years I’ve used the service. I highly recommend it, if they offer it in your area. \*I didn’t tell her, either.
