# Lactating male mammals

In [this](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_321.html) column the all knowing Cecil seems to not want to refer to [this](http://www.science-frontiers.com/sf093/sf093b10.htm) article, which seems to indicate the presence of male lactating bats. It isn’t clear from the article - although one could infer this - that they actually suckle young. What gives?

Actually, the article goes out of its way not to draw that conclusion. Beyond that, may I point out that the article is dated 1994, while Cecil’s column is dated 1984.
