A new product claims to make women’s intimate areas “fairer within four weeks.” The skin-whitening craze is running amok in Thailand, and I’ve seen it in other nearby countries too. I can only imagine the reaction if they started advertising these products in the US.

All such products are sold entirely based upon the target audiences insecurities about their bodies.
Age Defying Face Creams are the perfect example. Very expensive, cutting edge science, new and improved. On my side of the globe it’s all about wrinkles and fine lines, disguising, minimizing, eliminating. In Asia it’s all about open pores and skin lightening. Still, very expensive, cutting edge science, new and improved + disguising, minimizing, eliminating!
Same pitch, same snake oil, same target audience, you just have to discover what their weak spot is to succeed.
Skin tone of my intimate areas? It is to laugh. And then to weep. That anywhere in the world, women actually consider this shit.

Lots of Chinese and Korean grocery stores in Toronto carry whitening creams. Nothing quite **that** specific, though!

My wife is of Swedish ancestry- quite pale skinned. If her intimates were any whiter, they’d be transparent. Which would NOT be a turn-on.

Nitpick - no woman in Asia wants open pores! They want preferably no pores. They definitely want lighter skin though.

I’ve read that many of these skin-whitening products have very astringent ingredients that could actually cause skin problems in the future. Like it’s burning into your skin or some similar process. Sounds like the modern-day equivalent of those bone0-breaking corsets in the 19th century.
