I really don’t get all this 12 year old girl stuff. In my experience if men express a preference for shaved, that normally means they are prepared to spend some serious time on oral sex, and that suits me just fine.

Actually, yes, I am a college freshman!
Anyway, you’re the one who came out swinging with the whole finding it “controlling, self-centred and offensive” to find a little pube grooming attractive. I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable to ask my girlfriend to keep it neat down there, and think it’s exactly as un-sexist and un-controlling as me wearing clothes she finds attractive and wearing my shoes in public (yes that’s a request she’s made of me). Actually, a better example; I shave my face because she doesn’t like stubble. Is she seeing me as an object or possession when she asks me to shave?
Also, I find the accusations of paedophilia completely off base and reactionary. Mature women’s vulvas look completely different to prepubescent girls’. You might as well call women who don’t like beards paedophiles.

I don’t think that is a fair comparison. Stubble isn’t merely unpleasant, it actually _hurts_ to kiss someone with it.
A better example: would you shave all your chest hair off (assuming you have any) because she wanted you to?

I like girl hairs. Soft fuzzy triangles, for gently curling my fingers through afterwards. Prettier to look at. And yeah, shaven looks juvenile at best, and that’s ignoring stubble, red bumps, razor burn, etc.

Strike ‘only’- I don’t mean to imply that 2 years isn’t long enough- you shouldn’t be telling us what to do and feel no matter how long you’ve been here…
I don’t think that you should be telling us to be ashamed for having a preference that differs from yours. In fact I think it is a bit controlling, self-centered and offensive.

Argh, it’s an issue that’s just come up. I trim and nothing more - hell, is razor burn and stubble _really_ more attractive than pubic hair? You’re _supposed_ to grow hair there. It’s normal. I mean, I really wish I didn’t quite grow so much of it on so much of my anatomy, but there’s definately a limit on what I’m willing to shave. Even edging in the bikini area gives me awful stubble and ingrown hairs and such, so while I keep it up in the summer I really resent it.
So now the new man is all not pushy or anything, but he _is_ all “It would be really nice if you’d shave.” Well, shit no. And I told him that, and it was fine, until last weekend when we got good and drunk and he tried to pick me up and carry me into the bathroom to do it himself. :eek:
Don’t worry, I fixed that misconception of his. And it’s not like I don’t get hair in _my_ teeth, either!

**Zsofia** – if you wish to experiment with grooming that area – out of your own free will, of course, not because you’re letting a lover control you – try trimming with one of the razor deals people are talking about. It trims the hair down to a quarter inch or so, but doesn’t come any closer than that to the skin – no stubble, no ingrown hairs, no razor burn. It does feel a little weird at first – but after that, it’s nice not having the hair mat, rub against your panties, etc. Now I keep it trimmed whether I’m currently, as they say, “getting any” or not.

So basically, you have a preference too, your wife just happens to SHARE your preference and be au natural. Would you be whining and complaining about her trying to be a “12 year old girl” (thanks a LOT people who keep using this insulting phrase, SOME of us prefer it for cleanliness and sensation reasons NOT because we’re trying to attract pedophiles you insulting snots!!!).
As **Broomstick** already eloquently described about relationships, one person or the other in a relationship having a preference is NOT equivelant to them “viewing their partner as an object”. It just means they’re exploring what they like and/or prefer.
Even in the case of the poster who said he DID require trimmed pubes…So? It’s not as if he’s forcing women to trim. If they’re not trimmers, he simply doesn’t date them.
Same as some of us who won’t date non-smokers, they’re not going around grabbing cigs out of people’s mouths screaming “QUIT that or I won’t date you!!!” We’re merely choosing those that fit our preferences.

Trimmed. I have a mohawk. I started doing it when I was chubby and the long, almost non-curly hairs would get caught in the crease of my legs when I sat down. YOUCH! Now I do it because it’s what I’m used to.

Trim lightly but _no_ shaving. Shaving’s such a pain in the ass and always feels stubbly and bumpy. And I’ve never been successful with home wax kits and am too cheap for the salon. I was so glad when those surfer board shorts came in because now I don’t even have to shave for the beach…
