I’m 34 divorced once, eleven years ago. I used to automatically put the ‘hypothetical person’ into the ‘not even if hell should freeze over’ catagory as soon as I heard those kinds of stats. **BUT** I have learned that 1. I’m an idiot, because 2. I didn’t bother to the get to know the hypothetical person before I wrote him off. So I can’t answer the question with a yes or no about just any hypothetical person. But it does seem that the one that you are speaking of, it entirely dateable. Do you know what he’s doing this weekend? ---

Ooh! Ooh! Can I see if I’m datable? **elmwood’s stats** Superficially - 35 year old Anglo male, 5’10", 165 pounds, blue eyes, and I still have all my hair. Technically cute - maybe a 6 on a scale of 1-10. Working professional, financially secure, no debt except for a mortgage in a couple of months, for a single family house with a pool. 🙂 No kids or ex-wives. Intelligent, witty, outgoing (but a bit shy), caring, with eclectic tastes and a slight creative streak. I’m an ENFP. The shortcomings - sub-$50K income, borderline ADD, somewhat limited experience with long term relationships (cumulative - maybe 22 months of “relationship time” since puberty), 10 or 15 pounds of gut that I have to lose, severe cat allergy, somewhat picky eater, bad in sports. Honestly … among peer women, is there hope? ---

Divorced doesn’t matter. What makes that fudamentally different from someone who was engaged, in a 8 yr. relationship etc.? Kids, on the other hand… But don’t take my opinion on it. I’m only 18! ---

Hypothetically? I’d have some concerns, but wouldn’t automatically rule him out. I reckon the only men left my age who don’t have _some_ sort of baggage are the ones who still live with their mams and do E every weekend… I’ll take two ex-wives and children over that any day. Non-hypothetically? _Hell yes_ 😃 ---

I’m dating a 31 year old man with a child by an ex-gf and twins by another ex-gf, so yes, you’re datable if you are as smart and sweet and hard-working and just plain do-able as he is. I’m willing to hammer out the details of our blended families because I like him/love him/want him and he is a sum of his past—without the experiences, he wouldn’t be him! ---
