Before the period, I have this urge to clean, dust and vacuum everything.

During the period, my mild case of RLS kicks up a notch.

Oh Man! I’ll tradeya! One of my pre-symptoms (thankfully declining in my old age!) is to become incredibly ditzy and forgetful several days before. I’d much rather have the cleaning bug than become the quintessential dumb blonde.

The Tashaboy and I were talking about this thread the other day (He’s a vicarious Doper) and he mentioned to me that just prior to, during, and just after my periods, my obsessive-compulsive disorder goes into overdrive and I go around the house making everything symmetrical and orderly.

I hadn’t noticed, but apparently it’s like clockwork and almost amusing.

I hate my periods. \>.\< I need to get back on Depo - that shot did wonders and got rid of my periods like no one’s business.

Really? I totally dug being period-free on the Depo (look at me! white pants, no underwear, and no fear! 😃 ) . . .

. . . for about a year, and then I became a total freak. It all came to a head when I spent an entire wedding reception (not my own, thankfully ;)) bawling my eyes out in a corner for no reason (I couldn’t stop, so eventually I gave up and went home, bawling all the way; I totally thought I was going around the bend - which made me cry HARDER). After that, I actually joined an online support group for menopausal women, because even though I was only 34, I figured that must be my problem, right?

I pretty much got laughed out of the (chat) room.

But I digress.

The point is, I’d much rather deal with OCD than Depo. Hey, at least you’re productive. 🙂

No, but I do get other stuff “out of date”.

Apparently you’re supposed to get excited most easily during ovulation, but when I find myself sizing up every guy over waist-high (or, under waist high but old enough to shave) it means I’m getting my period the next day. Maybe I ovulate right before my period.

This is me. I was always horniest the day before my flow started. But then, I never saw a problem with sex during my period, either.

I had never considered AMS, but I think I might have it. Certainly my mood swings are a bit more erratic (I’m 44) than they were when I was younger-but my periods are so scant now and erratic after having a uterine ablation 2 years ago, that it is hard to say. I used to be an every 28 day, last for 5 day girl–with the cravings and the weepiness just prior to, but no more. My tubes were tied 6 years ago, so no worries there.
I think I wanted sex one day during all three of my pregnancies. I mean once for all three, not even once per. I had no interest or desire during gestation–but some women are the complete opposite. Baffling.

I LOVED being on depo. I’m one of those few women who had no bad side effects from it. I was totally happy on it! I lost weight, I was content with life, I got no periods, no PMS, no bloating, no hair loss - just happy Tashabot. It also made my OCD and bipolar disorder tone down a lot which led to me not having to use my medication as often - I HATE being medicated.

But I fully accept that not everyone has the same experiences as me. I was only on the stuff for like two, three years - but it worked wonders. The only reason I went off it is because I got a new job and needed to resubmit my sliding-scale information to my clinic. I still need to do that, but unfortunately, they’re only open the hours I work.
