The chest-waxing scene in _The 40-Year-Old Virgin_ struck me as odd. How is taking off your chest hair supposed to make you more attractive to women? Am I missing something? ---

It wouldn’t do you any favours in Faerie-land. A little hair is good, a lot’s not that appealing, and none at all is a turn-off. ---

A lot of women are going to come in here and say they are skeeved out by hairless chests. Me? Well, whatever you’ve got is OK, honestly, with a couple of small exceptions. Please keep it trimmed and neat in important places. I keep myself neat, don’t I? If it’s a lot of hair, then half-open shirts are probably not the best for you or I may think you have a monkey down your shirt. As for hairless, I have a thing for Asian guys anyway…slim and lithe…so far be it from me to be turned off by hairless. Waxing it bare is nice to look at on TV sometimes, but IRL _au naturale_ - with just a little maintenance - is the best. ---

I’ve become too used to Asian guys - hairy chests seem odd to me. But I don’t think I’d mind. ---

A little is good. Makes a man manlier, or something. There’s a hairiness threshold for me, though, because I think that Austin Powers-style chest-carpet is just nasty, and completely hairless would strike me as odd. ---

Generally, I prefer little to no chest hair. I’ve been lucky enough to be with a few men, however, who have the softest, silkiest nicest chest hair imaginable. I mean, if babies had chest hair, this is the kind of hair they’d have. Or…uh…something that doesn’t sound so disturbingly pedophillic. Anyhow, no, little or very soft chest hair is great. Thick, wiry, pokey stiff chest hair that goes up my nose and tickles when I try to rest my head on your chest in the afterglow? Ick. ---

Basically, if your hair is really wiry and thick and poky consider investing in some lotion. If it’s really long, yeah, maybe you could do some freakin’ maintenance on it and cut it a bit. I mean, if you have to comb your chest hair, honestly, it’s a turn-off. ---

Generally, I do prefer hair, but I’m not going to be (and haven’t been) turned off by a man with a naturally hairless chest. I would be slightly skeeved to discover a waxed or shaved chest that didn’t have a good reason behind it. But then, the metrosexual thing does nothing for me. ---

I prefer just a little bit. Also, I prefer that my men don’t shave their chest hair, because that’s even worse than having a lot of it- that stubble is scratchy! ---

If you are naturally hairless, great. If not, please don’t shave. It not only looks insecure and unmanly, but stubble all over you chest is not good. My husband is a pretty hairy guy. I’ts not really a turn off or a turn on, it’s just him. Sort of like you guys might kind of prefer redheads over brunets (or whatever), but it isn’t the sole, or even the main, criteria for attraction (I hope). I don’t like men who spend too much time primping. I would rather you be too hairy than obsessed with your appearance. ---
