You know, like a schoolteacher might wear? Cute cardigans, or funny earrings, or silly socks? Some of the seasonal clothing isn’t too bad, but the pink bunnies and smiling witches ad 3-D snowman sweaters are a little … much for my taste. (I’m only 25, by the way.)

I think [this sweater](http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5443840727&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) is OK, but [this one](http://cgi.ebay.com/BEREK-BEADED-TEXAS-SANTA-WESTERN-CHRISTMAS-SWEATER-L_W0QQitemZ5441191435QQcategoryZ63866QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is over-the-top.

How 'bout you?

My goodness, but that’s a hideous sweater.

</div>

The first one isn’t too bad-not my style, but it’s just a generic “winter” sweater. So it’s all right.

The second one is a crime against fashion.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be caught dead in either.

I take to wearing a lot plain stuff in winter. Simple sweaters, hoodies, jeans, sneakers, black pea coat, etc. I’m not into holiday clothes, they make me think of my grandma and her sequined Christmas/ Halloween/ 4th of July clothes.

I don’t like socks. I wear sandals 10 months out of the year in Upstate NY. In order to persuade myself to wear socks when the temp drops too cold even for me, I do buy brightly-colored cute socks. Some of them happen to be holiday socks. And that’s the extent of it.

They both suck. Unfortunately, my in laws are all about the Christmas Bomb Sweater. I might even find one under the tree. Then I’ll have to remove the turkey and put my head in the oven.

</div>

I ask this because my husband’s mom’s side of the family seems to love them. We do a Yankee Trader gift exchange with them for Christmas every year, and half the ladies over 50 show up wearing them. Three years in a row, a holiday sweater was one of the gifts. You should have seen the number of times they changed hands!

</div>

Good Gawd no. Never. Ick.

My mom and sister, OTOH, love them. My sister even breaks out the Christmassy earrings and socks. Her favorite outfit **shudder** is BRIGHT red pants with a green sweatshirt that shows a kitten tangled up in ribbons.

I remind myself that insanity is hereditary and I’m not related by blood.

I do have two pairs of earrings shaped like tree ornaments – one of red balls (sic), and one of purple, six-pointed stars – and I’ve been known to wear those when dressing up (with a plain white silk blouse and tuxedo pants, long hair down).

</div>

Those sweaters should be removed from _society_.

And, no, I don’t wear holiday themed clothing. I do own a pair of tights with stylized holly leaves on them, but they were a gift.

I’m definitely ok with the themed socks, but the sweaters are no less than hideous…and that’s EXACTLY why I own some. This year will be our second annual Don We Now Our Gay Apparel party. Guest are required to wear such things. Good times.

</div>

Sometimes. Not as often as my mother (who teaches three year olds, and thus finds lots of excuses for interesting socks in winter). Since I’m aiming for a career with a lot of involvement with customers, I’m thinking that I might buy some more “seasonal” but not _too_ “seasonal” items.

</div>

Both those jumpers are vile, in my opinion. I do wear a white T-shirt with red HO HO HO written on it, with either green or red slacks. It doesn’t look as atrocious as it sounds. Really.

Oh, and I wear Christmas Tree earrings in the week before Christmas. It’s all rather different from when I was little, of course. Christmas Day was major dressing up day - hats, gloves, stockings, new dress. Totally out of place in 100+ temperatures.

I’m not a lady.
But I like to dress for the holidays.
I have one tie with a little man carrying a Christmas tree.
And another tie with a man wearing a barrel that reads IRS.
And one with a ship and 1492 for Columbus day.
If I find more of that genre, you can be sure I will collect them.

I have one light blue sweater with a huge white-beaded snowflake on it. It’s very pretty and I only get to wear it about two months a year. I also have a pair of red and black socks with snowflakes on them.

Some friends of mine do a “white elephant” gift exchange after Christmas every year, where we swap unwanted presents. At the same time we have an “ugliest holiday sweater” contest. It’s very entertaining.

I don’t do any seasonal dressing (I don’t dress up for Stampede, either). Some people like to, and fine for them. It just isn’t my thing. I would probably wear the blue and white sweater, but I’d have to be in danger of freezing to death to wear the other one.

Heehee. When I was in high school, one day in early December my mother brought home a Grinch sweatshirt for me. She earnestly told me that I could wear it every day, if I wanted to. She would wash it every night.

I’m not sure I _ever_ wore it, actually.

I’m a guy, and as such never liked any of that kind of stuff. But man, the possibilities of intentionally misunderstanding “Don We Now Our Gay Apparel” are just hilarious.
