I think that implication of a conscience to be shaken is interesting. It certainly implies much, much more than “they hate our freedoms.” This implies a belief that the conscience, once awakened, will rectify a wrong. I mean why else mention a conscience? Curioser and curioser coming from the “they hate our freedoms” guy. ---

I wouldn’t be surprised if it _was_ a scripted attempt at a joke. Remember that the Bush camp vets all questions that will be asked to the President, and undoubtedly prepares Bush for the trickier ones ahead of time. ---

I think we should have a special sign right outside the Situation Room that reads, “Your IQ must be this high to launch the nuclear\* weapons.” - _Not_ “nucular”, dammit. ---

So old walnut-brain really said, “I wish I wasn’t the war President. Who in the heck wants to be a war President? I do them pretty well myself, and I can see Jon Stewart do them just fine on The Daily Show. Bush’s face after the sentence doesn’t indicate he was going for a laugh, and it fits too well into what he said before to be just a joke. And in the off chance I’m wrong, if it was a joke, it was a really unfunny joke. ---
