Ideally, you should have nudged her and asked what she wanted for breakfast. Failing that, call her.

> Isn’t it obvious that an actual human voice is preferable, and more romantic? Why do people try so hard to remove all emotional cues and make things so impersonal?

Because its much harder to hide anxiety with phone calls. We use physical non-verbal cues to hide our feelings, which arent available on the phone, so its generally easier to tell what we’re really feeling.

Ideally we’d just not be anxious, but sometimes thats easier said than done with these kinds of issues.

Calling is also good because it’s less likely to be missed than email for most people. There have been times I’ve missed personal or important emails because they were drowned out by all the mailing lists and notification emails and various other things in my inbox. Or sometimes I’ve received an email, and thought “oh I’ll reply to that later this afternoon” but then forget about it with all the email I receive after it. And I know the same thing has happened to many of my friends my age.

> If she doesn’t answer, then leave a brief message, "Hey, it’s **Mr. Excellent**.

Don’t use your real name. Whatever it is, Mr. Excellent is better.

Unless that is your real name. Or unless you’re a doctor.

“Dr. Excellent. Dr. Multiple Orgasm Excellent. Yes, ‘Orgasm’ is my middle name.”

–
If she calls someone else who is actually named that in response, gracefully accept defeat.
