It is not too surprising that most people here seem to think that if Natalie can get $1 mil plus for her virginity, well good for her. Natalie Dylan is not her real name so she can protect her identity. Seriously? She is a college student so there most be 100s of people who have been watching TV and saying “I can’t believe what Jane is doing, why didn’t I think of that?” As soon as one classmate blogs her real name, it will be indexed and always out there. I am surprised at how much publicity Natalie is seeking. She has evidently been on Maury, Tyra, Oprah, the Insider and countless news outlets. This is after she has already gotten offers, so she doesn’t need the extra exposure. I am also skeptical that someone who is so comfortable talking to everyone about her sex life is a virgin. Does anal count? I also don’t really believe that in the end this will work out and she will get $1 mil. Guys may offer it to talk to her and get some kicks out of publicity, but I don’t believe that they will actually write a cashable check. ---

I’m sort of shocked that people are skeptical of her virginity on the basis of her looks and frankness about sex. IME, it was the hot, brainy girls who waited longest to have sex (I’m talking 20 and over, middle class). Probably because they had high self-esteem knew it wasn’t going to be some big fairytale. Maybe it’s a generational thing. ---

There’s some data from the undergraduates of my university (ivy league, upper class) that suggests that many students are not having vaginal intercourse to avoid the risk of pregnancy. The work was for a senior thesis so I wouldn’t entirely vouch for it’s quality, but that sounds like just the sort of thing these kids would think. (they also say they’re "too busy,"which makes me think that a marketing campaign based around the quickie study break would be fruitful).
