But just in case y’all are all waiting with bated breath. Ha! I started a full time law clerking position for a law firm last Monday. The position should at least take me into summer.
Half the pay of what I was making before, but at least it gives me a start of something to put on my law resume. Should look pretty good actually. Also, health benefits which is a huge deal.
May I just say, the Illinois unemployment office is the most ridiculous, convoluted, inefficient system I have ever experienced. They looked at the DMV and said, ‘amateurs. We can do worse than them, waaaaaaay worse’.
i’m glad you found something in your new field. doubly glad it comes with healthcare! with a young one paying a cobra or private plan would have been… there are no words, unspeakably expensive.
good luck! hopefully they will like you and keep you in the summer and pay tuition!
Yeah. We received the cobra information. It would have been more than $1300 a month. ($1343 I think).
Might as well have been $10k for our ability to keep paying that.
Since you aren’t going to be there for years and years you may want to tell people you play piano at a whorehouse. It has less stigma attached to it as jobs go.
(I was at a party once and someone asked what my wife did for a living and I said the whorehouse thing ------- guy at the next table piped up “Which Firm is she with?”)
