There is an Asian (Middle Eastern to be “imprecise”, but that’s another thread) market that from time to time sells raw Lamb Fries (Testicles for the uninformed).

Just how do you cook these things? Do you thin slice them and sautee? Or do you quarter them and deep fry them?

From what I’ve seen IRL and on TV shows like Andrew Zimmern’s, the preferred method is deep frying. I haven’t ever tried them but would like to. In America they are called “Rocky Mountain Oysters”, and are usually bull testicles although any large-ish herd type animal would be suitable, I suppose.

Around here they are of the bovine variety and are either fried whole in a pan or breaded and deep-fried.

I’ve eaten exactly one, just to say I did it. It was very tasty with a lean beef flavor.

It’s basically a “man thing” where I grew up.

Gee. I’ll bet lamb fries would be good skewered for shish kabob.

What? This thread has been up for almost three hours and no one has jumped in here yet to say something like “They taste like chicken?”
I’m shocked… just shocked.

On a fun side note; My brother owned a bar in NW Oklahoma and once a year they had a big 'Testicle Festival." (come have a ball)

Around here [lamb’s fry is the liver](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamb%27s_fry), not the testicles. [Wikipedia says](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamb_fries) your version are served peeled, rolled in cracker meal, and fried.

There was a bar I went to that had them on the menu year-round. \<Not hard to do in Idaho-country\> I had to try them; they were served deep-fried and sliced up on a plate, and looked and tasted so much like breaded pork that to this day I have to wonder if it wasn’t just that. I like breaded pork, don’t get me wrong, but…I was hoping for something a little different.

That may be because they don’t taste like chicken. They taste like balls.

I had one deep-fried once. It thought it tasted like mild liver.

I have to agree with you there but I would add- A thick sliced, chewy piece of bologna that tastes like liver.

You could also take part in this annual celebration that happens every Thanksgiving…

Just to be safe, in case it’s NSFW

It’s like Freshen Up gum…it’s that burst of liquid flavor in the center that keeps you coming back for more…

Seriously… how hungry do you have to be to eat an animal’s testicles?

I can’t imagine even trying these, mountain oysters, or any other animal testicles.

Christ, can we just pitch the poor, butchered animal’s testicles and call it a day? The only reason to save animal testicles for human consumption is to satisfy drunken bets.
