I’m not 100% sure Hal is dead but Kerry did shoot him, Hal is still good at his job.
The show is, IMO, going to end with a yellow ring.
Season 2 is in development, but not confirmed.
I had convinced myself that a yellow lantern and ring was what was in that vault. Nope.
Also I was sure this season would end with Jon Stewart being a Lantern not because of his parents but because he wants it but I feel they are running out of time to have that character arc this season.
I thought that John Stewart would find the lantern in the vault and therefore be able to keep the Halogram alive indefinitely.
Note that it’s John not Jon.
I had half expected this, too. I think between the Halogram manifesting after the ring had been taken off (plus the bird outlasting the charge on the ring!), they’re going with the “John Stewart[1] doesn’t need a ring” theme that the comics ran with a couple of years ago.

It was only after I read recaps of the episode that I understood that the character we saw at the end was Sinestro.

As for this, perhaps Zoe’s magical medical machine might be able to revive Hal?

Well, John did rifle through his pockets fingers for loose change rings.
It’s also entirely plausible that only one in 1,000+ galaxies contains intelligent life. And only one in 10,000+ has life with space flight.
Some random predictions for the finale:
They will use Manhunter technology to clone a new body and upload the Halogram into it so the end result will be a less jaded 2006 Hal in 2026.
John Stewart will end the season as a Green Lantern but not one who is a member of the Corp. He will have a ring and battery but be a Lantern on his own terms.
The Planet they are on will be the source of Yellow rings. Liliana and Sinestro have been conspiring to create the Sinestro Corp.
The final shot of the episode will be a bird.
Here are my predictions:
Noah is a manhunter
The sheriff knows and is in on it
She killed Hal
Hal knew the entire time, that is why he told John not to tell anyone he came to see him the day he died
How about: Noah killed Hal. He did it to lure John back into Rushville.
Yes I agree Noah is the Manhunter and the sheriff either killed Hal to protect him or Noah did it and she knows and feels guilty.
I feel like Hal stating that Kerry killed him means she didn’t. Noah is still a possibility.
Odd finale! The twist wasn’t that big of a twist, there was no big action piece nor a cliffhanger. That said, I thought the season was great and I’m very much looking forward to whatever comes next. I suppose with a bit of a caveat that I thought Superman was overrated albeit fine, and haven’t seen Supergirl.
I thought the finale was well done.
As for the DCU, next up is Clayface later this month. Time will tell how it ties in with other threads.
