The show takes time to explain. Barely anyone knows he’s dead. The people who do know are citizens of Rushville and therefore don’t care. Good riddance. The examiner says she didn’t want press descending on the town, so she withheld the news ‘till Monday,’ and we never got past Saturday on the show. The world is oblivious right now. The only handwaving was in how Carol Ferris found out. They say Kerry called her, but really they just needed her there for fan reasons.
The show ends like 3 days after he dies, right?
I poked around to try to find a timeline of the last days and mostly I found others asking questions. They had to fit in John meeting Hal in the diner, Hal meeting with Kerry, Kerry informing John, the covering up of the death, the arrival of Carol Ferris, the funeral, the digging up of Hal’s corpse, the hat ceremony, the summoning of Guy, the finding of the portal, the time on the other planet (which must have taken literally zero Earth time), the return to the football game, John getting blackmailed, John getting the money before the end of the day, and a bunch of other stuff.
Maybe some YouTuber has done it. I think it’s fudged the way the bomb timer ticking off the last 30 seconds lasts for ten minutes of action. But I’d be grateful if someone had or can link to an explanation.
You’re listing a bunch of things that happened concurrently or took like 20 minutes. Busy couple days, sure, but that wasn’t what I was saying. If the last scene is ~3 days after Hal’s death it’s not weird that it isn’t widely known.
I thought it was OK. Fine, maybe even good.
But Damon Lindleoff is a goddamn hack. I hate that he keeps getting shows. All the stuff people are complaining about here… LINDLEOFF!
Hal dies Tuesday night, autopsy and meeting with Guy on Wednesday, funeral and digging up Hal on Thursday. Then everything with Halogram happens from Thursday night to Friday night. The timeline with Halogram is tight but not impossible. We don’t know how long it took to get to Sinestro and back.
Thanks for that, but I think it proves that they crammed ten minutes into 30 seconds.
Something else: the ring chip that runs the separate Halogram is still out there. That’s another way Kyle Chandler can remain on the show.
Something else else: they kind of handwaved away how Noah somehow went into Space and freed Sinestro. Maybe he can fly like a Lantern but they never say that.
Something else else else: they never did explicitly connect Liana with anyone which is a little weird. I thought she would be the one who had freed Sinestro because she was in league with him. Or she was somehow aware and encouraging Noah or both but she literally never came up again.
Didn’t he just use that black portal?
That could be but the one we saw led to a different planet.
I agree, the black portal just goes to one place, Noah needed another mode of transport to free Sinestro from Spazkaban.
…
I only made this post so I could say Spazkaban.
How do we know the portal isn’t programmable? I mean, when we saw it at the slaughterhouse it obviously didn’t lead to that desolate world. So either there is more than one portal, or the se portal can go to different places.
We saw a portal in the slaughterhouse, not necessarily the same one.
So either there’s a third portal that goes to Spazkaban, or - more likely - a portal can be set to multiple places.
Didn’t John jump through a black portal that took him from art school to abandoned shopping mall?
There was time enough on the Earth side for Noah to have come along, noticed the open portal, and moved it to a height so that John fell when he came back through it and hit the floor hard, knocking the wind out of him, so Noah could have the element of surprise and kick him a few times before saying ‘can you drive?’.
BTW, what was with that circular wound on Hal’s arm after Noah healed him? I don’t think it was explained.
When Zoey healed John, she said the machine needed a skin sample to regrow his skin. Why that spot didn’t heal as well wasn’t explained. Of course, the out of story reason is that it’s a bit of shorthand for “a Manhunter just healed you.”
It was early to midday when they went to the alien planet. It was night time when John got back. So lets say 6 hours or so? Not unreasonable. I’m assuming Noah has some sort of Manhunter portal monitoring tech and didn’t just happen to check out the old collapsed water tower.
Thanks. I think that’s the explanation.
