Laser Printer recommendations

Wow. I too wasn’t aware of the LED category of printers. That explains the ad copy I/we thought was weird. Thanks for the edumacation there @DMC.

As to quality, you’ve also explained that. I have never done anything that involved printing photographs on a home or office printer. I know people do that, but the only examples I’ve ever seen look like shit: unfocused, low res, and unsaturated. Which may have more to do with the limitations of the printer operator than the printer itself.

On non-photographs, LED / laser blows the pants off inkjet. 600 real DPI FTW.

As above, laser printers are the best for text and basic graphics, but in my experience dye sublimation printers are the best, best, for photo printing. I have a small older canon dye sub printer that only produces 4x6 prints, but the quality is outstanding (and waterproof). Caveat is they take cartridges that contain the “ink” and paper and it’s expensive. For 8x10 i would imagine a dye sub printer is well into the 4-figures.

I will not be printing photos – color will be mostly for maps (I’m old fashioned and like paper maps) - often trails are different colors (e.g., XC ski difficulties)

Definitely laser/LED then (but you knew that).

Did you get one yet? There’s probably a bunch on sale for Black Friday.

No - maybe will check cyber Monday. I’m not in a huge hurry.
