I actually wore tinted glasses as a teenager when I was having trouble with migraines. They didnā€™t work so well, unfortunately, but maybe a newer variation might help. Feel really down today, probably the weather and another day with a dull migraine contributing. I already maxed out on the amount of Imitrex Iā€™m supposed to be taking for the entire week yesterday, so now Iā€™m on my Zomig backup plan. Itā€™s not good being down but I realize that Iā€™m going to have down days and itā€™s more important that I learn to deal with them well. ---

These arenā€™t just standard tinted glasses, theyā€™re actually tinted specifically for the color that is most soothing to your eye, thereby somehow blocking the striations that can bring on migraines. You have them specially made for you. Talk to your doctor about them. The study was just recently published, showing how and why they work. Iā€™m sorry to hear youā€™re feeling down today. I wish I had an immediate solution I could offer, but Iā€™m afraid I donā€™t. The only time Iā€™ve ever suffered migraine headaches was when I became hypothyroid. Getting my thyroid hormones in proper balance has eliminated them as a symptom of my disease, so I donā€™t know what itā€™s like to need other medications for them. If you can, just try to get some rest in a darkened room. That might help you feel a little better. ---

Thanks for asking. Pretty rotten headache today, but itā€™s receding. Probably weather-related. My mood has been a lot better over the day, which is goodā€¦it was a much better day at work today, even with the headache. I got a lot done today and even managed to contribute a lot to three disparate meetings. There were a lot of things happening that might have gotten me agitated and depressed in the past that I was able to handle, which is a good sign, and I was able to speak up for myself, which is also a good sign. I took the first dose of Depakote, an anti-seizure medicine used as a migraine maintenance medicine. The pills are massive! And after two weeks I have to start taking three of them. ---

My father-in-law, when he was in the military, was given suppositories for his ailments. Being a shy kid from rural Oklahoma who had never received much medical care in the past, he didnā€™t ask the doctor what he was supposed to do with them. The followup visit was amusing. Doing OK today. Iā€™m going to pretend I didnā€™t see the Pit thread, and go from there. ---

I suppose the events of the last few days have really pushed home how intertwined my depression and my migraines are. Saturday I was feeling really down and agitated, and I ended up spending a good portion of the day completely flat out with a terrible headache. It takes close to a 9 or a 10 on the pain scale now to go flat, and thatā€™s what I had. But then Sunday I went with the kids to a local amusement park, and despite the weather not being great and me not in the best of shape, we had a good time, and my headache eased. It didnā€™t completely go, but it was certainly more tolerable. So perhaps my plan of ā€œtake care of the migraines and then think about what to do with everything elseā€ is misguided; it seems I wonā€™t be able to take care of one without the other. There are many problems I need to go over but I donā€™t think I can talk about them yet, either here or to my counselor, but I realize Iā€™m going to have to do so soon. ---

Hi, I registered especially to post this. I have had, and to a lesser extent, still have, depression. One of the things Iā€™ve found that helps is reducing the amount of egg yolks you eat. I used to have 6 eggs yolks and all a day, and now that Iā€™ve reduced it to three, Iā€™m feeling a lot better. The theory behind this is that egg yolks contain choline, which is a major component of an important neurotransmitter in memory (acylcholine (sp?)) , but in excess, it can exasperate depression . It probably wonā€™t help, but it is at least worth a try ---

My only migraine ever lasted less than a day, but it was enough for me to weep with despair. Constant pain wears the body and soul down, and brings even the strongest will to its knees eventually, grinding away like the relentless river through the canyon. Whatever you do, make finding a solution for your migraines your first priority. ---
