Indeed. Steve’s backstory is about as authentic as, say, The Strokes’ NY street punk image, but there’s nothing wrong with artifice in art.

A few years ago, while watching Top Gear, I saw Seasick Steve as the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car. I was amused, because he was clearly American, but I for one had never heard of him.
