Are you evaluating a discrete task that’s performed once per cashier per shift? Or is it a task that’s performed multiple times per shift? ---

You said, somewhere up above, that this is not something the customers would care about. On that basis, can we safely assume it has nothing to do with ringing up transactions accurately? Is the task something the customers are likely to notice the cashier attending to, even if they don’t care? ---

Does it have anything to do with the paper for printing the receipts? Do the same number of cashiers work on Tuesdays as other days? ---

Is this task something the cashiers are supposed to do in regard to each and every customer they ring up without exception? If not, does the decision to perform the task depend on what item(s) is/are being purchased?
