[Check it out](http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/transformers.html) I’m in awe. Wow. I don’t normaly get pumped about movies like this but this trailer just guaranteed at least one ticket will be sold! I’m pretty excited… What’s your reaction Dopers? ---

Yea, Michael Bay seems to be good at making crappy but enjoyable films. So I don’t expect to be too disappointed. ---

Does anyone know what the backstory is going to be in this film? By this I mean, do you know how their going to retell the Transformers mythos? Why are they fighting? Why are they cars? Etc.? -FrL- ---

I’ve seen the trailers and it does a lot more for me than Pirates 3 does. I’m not really sure I’d even invest the time in Pirates 3 if it was on cable this weekend. ---

I will be taking my son (9), and possibly my daughter (11), if she says she wants to go. I would be going myself, if I didn’t have an excuse of having them to make me do it. I’m so excited. Like others, I was Pesci until I heard that _awesome_ sound! ---

Apparently, the rules on Michael Bay films is if it has a ‘The’, it rocks. Otherwise, it sucks. The Transformers clearly will rock. ---

Unfortunately, the film has humans in it. Humans on Transformers were always teh suck. ---

I just e-mailed a friend with the link to that trailer, noting as I did so that this is a movie I could possibly see multiple, multiple times this summer. Looks very promising: lotsa explosions and car chases, plus giant robots. It’s a no-lose equation. The fact that Peter Cullen will be reprising his role as the voice of Optimus Prime makes me very happy, and I smiled when I heard the transforming sound for the first time in two decades. Can’t wait! ---

I know some people who worked on the VFX for the film (which look quite good, from the trailer), so I’ll probably go see it, especially since it’ll probably be for free (and thus, with a clear conscience. ;)) ---

I was just (as in five minutes ago) telling a co-worker how f’ing cool this looked. I swear I got shivers when the trailer flashed the words “Some are here to protect us” and then cut to the scene of the 18-wheeler rolling through clouds of mist. I can’t wait! ---

My main concern is that the robots don’t seem to have any resemblance to the vehicles they came from in robot form. Back in the day you could tell that Starscream was part plane and Optimus Prime was part truck. These guys all look like prototypical robots and frankly all look pretty much the same.
