Latest fraudulent, bullshit, manufactured outrage against Obama

I don’t see why making personal insults against your opponent is worse than falsely ascribing positions to them that they do not hold.

I didn’t say it was.

I watched Brit Hume’s round-up today, and even his most conservative guy said it was clear that Obama was talking about the policies, and not Palin. O’Reilly said the same thing. I don’t usually watch him, but I wanted to see the Obama interview. Damn, he gave a good interview! He only let O’Reilly run off at the mouth at the very beginning.

I give credit to O’Reilly for calling bullshit on the lipstick thing. This whole thing may end up backfiring on McCain. I think most people see through it.

Of course a lot of the righties now seem to be going with the line that he meant it “subconsciously.”

Well he’s clearly a latent misogynist, as evidenced by the number of times he’s been witnessed on camera not practicing misogyny.

There’s a sad fucking truth for ya. But not because you’re in Texas. The precious few will indeed elect the president, not us.
And anyone who watches the whole segment will know Obama was not calling her a pig. He wasn’t even trying to seem like he was, regardless of what some genii here are claiming.
Watch the speech, and listen.
Peace,
mangeorge, who hates the EC.

Just a thought:
Lots of people are saying that Obama is too good a speaker to have not said the “lipstick on a pig” comment inadvertantly. I agree, but not because it invokes Palin. Rather, my guess is the reason Obama likes this sort of folksy colloquilism is because it combats the “elitist” label often placed on him. It makes him seem simple and plain.

Anyway, that’s my interpretation on why this well-educated man is cultivating such a hackneyed expression.

I hear he was going to use a reference to Tertullian’s letter to St. Ambrose, but that would be elitist. He could lie, but that sacrifices contrast.

I thought the lipstick-on-a-pig comment was a Tertullian reference, he just translated it from Latin because of the tittering at labia and porcus.

You so freakin’ WIN!

WHEN ARE YOU WRITING YOUR DAMN BOOK OR MOVIE OR WHATEVER! MORE PEOPLE THAN US DOPERS NEED YOUR GENIUS!

I haven’t been able to find a complete transcript of whatever Obama was talking about before, but absent that, he did not in fact go directly. So I guess he wasn’t calling Palin a pig. My apologies, therefore.

Regards,
Shodan

And yet another news cycle is won by the forces of ignorance.

Actually, I think common sense might have held its own on this one. Even a lot of the Right wing echo chamber didn’t buy it. Only the most devoted RNC shills really tried to sell it, and Obama did well to hit back hard on it instead of just taking the punches like a weeble wobble like Democrats not named Clinton usually do.

I have not been in the US for an election in many, many moons. I have no basis for comparison.

Is this campaign stranger, nastier, than others in recent history?

On the Republican side, yes. Obama has tried to stay above it, but the McCain campaign has been as nasty as I can ever remember. They are really pissed scared of Obama on the right. The GOP ride on the gravy train is just about over.

(I hope it’s appropriate to continue this thread with a different incident than the one mentioned in the OP; it seemed better than starting an entirely new thread with a similar topic line.)

Okay, I was disappointed at the forces that drove the story mentioned in the OP, but I sort of expected it.

But now this… Apparently, Obama is being criticized in some circles for, at the 9/11 memorial,

I was stunned. Almost literally stunned. I couldn’t believe someone was trying to make this a big deal, or that anyone would take it seriously. But someone is, and people do.

I’m 100% certain that conservatives think the same way about some of the things liberals make a big deal out of, especially in the past week or two about Sarah Palin. But I was shocked nonetheless.

No, people don’t make a big deal of this. Michele Malkin isn’t quite human, so there you go.
