Inspired by the [Most Hated Commercials, Holiday Edition](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=775741) thread, now that the holidays are over. I nominate this [Buick ad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJQ63-6JAcs), that is so incredibly annoying and irritating, it has me grasping for the mute button every time. The whispering is more grating to me than nails on a chalkboard. Please tell me I am not the only one who cannot stand that horrible sound. And that Buick musical theme - sounds like something the execs at GM and old people think young people want to hear. Ugh. What else is out there that makes you want to leave the room? ---

I don’t know if it’s still running, and I think it was on ABC, but there was a promo for a show (a series) and apparently it dealt with a boy being raped. It seemed to be run during every single commercial break and it made me want to fling a brick at the screen. Honestly, I don’t recall what show it was advertising, but I know I don’t want to watch it. EVER!! ---

This last Christmas they were running I swear 5 minute long commercials for the ASPCA, or Humane Society, or something against animal abuse. I had to lunge for the remote control 6 times a day. I can’t BEAR that kind of thing…and now on TV Land they are pushing the SHIT out of ‘Younger’. I thought it was such a riproaring success they wouldn’t HAVE to advertise half a dozen times an hour that it was coming back in January, but there that commercial is, blaring away. I am so sick unto death of ‘Tell Me Lies’! What an awful song. ---

EVER!! The show is _American Crime_ and it is actually quite good. In fact I was going to start a thread about it but haven’t had a chance yet. I haven’t noticed the promos anymore now that the season has begun but I kind of tune commercials out (ya know, for sanity’s sake). **salinqmind** , oy vey and ohmigod, they’re still playing the things nonstop. And I may be imagining it but it seems like it’s every channel. I love and support animals as much if not more than most people and I understand the need, believe me. But I already regularly donate and it’s getting to be a real bummer to see those images several times a night. It won’t stop me from giving, but I can see it potentially really turning off someone who might have otherwise made a donation. ---

I’ll change the channel to _anything_ else if I see that [toilet-paper commercial](http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7JTR/cottonelle-cleanripple-go-cottonelle-go-commando) with the (Australian?) woman talking about how well the product “cleans your bum.” I’m pretty sure she even talks about how it cleans so well that you can “go commando.” (If anything, this is worse than the commercials with the animated bears for another brand.) And if you include radio ads, the most irritating one is the one for “Kars 4 Kids” although it’s hardly new. It’s been polluting the airwaves in the New York area for more than a decade. ---

I hate the VW “[Beth](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnY0pSBcD8c)” commercial. It seems to be showing a father having a great time with his kids, yet “Beth” has her text go ignored all day. At the end, when the kids are all tuckered out, the father finally sees the text. Does he respond “what’s up?” or similar? No, he looks like a whipped puppy as he replies “what can I do?” He might as well ask “what did I do?” because no matter what he does, it’s not good enough. It’s all his fault there is no milk. But change that one line and it’s a nice commercial. Of course, why doesn’t she just send a text? or why doesn’t he actually play the 2 new messages before he calls? Who knows! ---

I’d almost forgotten about awkward-voiceover-guy in the Mazda commercials. “This. Is. Summer. Driving.” (He’s done more recent ones than that, but that’s the one burned into my helpless brain.) I know he’s trying to enunciate clearly in a limited commercial time frame, but: This. Is. Me. Not. Caring. Ugh. ---

These odd right-wing anti-virus software ads on cable, including one on MSNBC that sounded almost like a “Trump for President ad” (Obama is failing to keep out internet safe!). I’ll second the “go commando” ad toilet paper campaign. The Norm McDonald as Colonel Sanders KFC ads. He is just creepy. ---

I forget exactly what it’s for, insurance or cell coverage or something, but the call center girl is talking to the customer, and he replies, “Wow! How do you do it?” And, of course she says in an _are-you-ready-for-this-shit?!_ voice, “How do we do it?!” … and then an unholy dance breaks out at the call center to that shit song “This is How We Do It”. I want to napalm them all with a flame thrower. ---
