And on the commercial you can clearly see that the magnetic stripe is nowhere near the credit card reading machine. Were someone to swipe the card the way it happens over and over again in that series of commercials, they’d quickly turn it around and re-swipe it because nothing would have happened or the card reading machine would show something was wrong with the card. Well, Tina ain’t so smart. She thinks you can see Russia from Sarah Palin’s house. ---

I think they realized that aspect of the commercial is (especially) stupid, because they seem to have dropped that version, at least around here. I can’t figure out exactly what’s going on in this commercial, though. Are they doing some kind of Bollywood spoof? For my nomination for stupid, I nominate the Dish TV ads where they’re slapping themselves on the back because the wall-mounted TV doesn’t have any unsightly wires stretching from the DVR. Including, I note, no power wires. ---

In the commercial, there’s no visible power cord. So if there was a custom mounted outlet, they could just have easily run a duct for all the connecting wires. ---

I’m not sure what it’s actually called but I saw an ad a little while ago (on the Internet, I think) for a product that allows men (pretty sure it wouldn’t work too great for women) to relieve themselves on the golf course using one of their clubs. Had to be one of the most ridiculous things I’d ever seen. **A** ) I’m not one to pee outside but if nature calls and that’s all I’ve got then… **B** ) would you REALLY want to continue your round of golf carrying a club around that has your own urine in it? ---

Wish i could remember the product but there is a current commercial where every sentence starts with “this is…” About 12 “this is” later I want to launch the remote through the tv. ---

I was thinking that maybe the course has rules against urinating on the course. Then I thought that means they are watching you pee. ---

Right - which is even more to the point - that Dish isn’t offering you anything new - let alone ‘wireless’ - like many commercials - its a stack of lies - or the wireless they mean has nothing to do with the wires they arent showing. ---

It’s not a completely stupid concept. It’s much easier to run one power extension cord around the yard or wherever than to have to run a cable extension from the wall to the box to move the box around, too. Power plugs are standard in just about every room of the house in lots of convenient locations, but cable drops have to be added in. That’s a pain. Having a box that takes the incoming wire and then routes a wireless signal that can then be picked up in other rooms is a big saving of hassle.
