Not a stupid commercial rant, it’s more of a mild WTF? Sears ads for their Memorial Day Sale has “Hail to the Chief” playing as background music. Wouldn’t “HttC” be more appropriate for a Presidents Day sale? ---

The one with the couple and their new baby shopping for phone service. “We need a new family plan.” “Our plan for a family of four…” Wait. You just had a baby and that necessitates a family plan why? Did you not get a joint phone plan when you got married? Is that baby going to suddenly be using some of your joint minutes? Shouldn’t you wait until the kid is, oh, 5 before giving him a phone to break? But now that I think about it, that would make 5 people, so the Family Plan wouldn’t work even though you can add additional lines, but they don’t mention that in this particular commercial. ---

LC does have it’s “Hot & ready” which are either a cardboard “pepperoni” std type pizza for $5, or a interesting “deep dish” Pepperoni for $8, which doesn;t really taste much like pizza, but we like it. Think of fresh bread baked with some sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Great? Hardly but super fast and eight bucks. ---

It took a while for me to convince them that “The British Grenadiers,” the Regimental Quick March of the Royal Artillery, might not convey the proper patriotic spirit. In other words, “Whose fucking side are you on?” ---

Unless I’m hallucinating (I never can fully rule that out), isn’t there ANOTHER commercial using the “young couple shopping for something while trying to keep everyone quiet so as to not wake the hellspawn child they squirted out”? I think it’s for a car dealership or something… talk about your oddly specific sub-genres. ---

Does anyone remember a commercial with some dude, looked pretty bad because he just worked up, who went outside to see his wife about to run over his game console and kept backing then driving towards but stop to do it a couple times to tease the husband who said to stop. She finally destroys it, kisses her husband and goes back inside the house, leaving him to look at the expensive, destroyed console in sorrow. After seeing that commercial, a little bit of soul died then killed itself in order to stop reliving the pain. Also first post here, yay! ---

There are some funny (to me) commercials running in Oklahoma right now. There is an election coming up to replace Tom Coburn in the US Senate (he’s resigning). The two conservative candidates are falling over themselves trying to show how they hate Obama (well, his policies) more than the other guy. Sure, it’s a serious subject, it’s just the way it’s being done that I think is silly.
