Historical trivia: I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and I remember when Kentucky Fried Chicken first hit my town. They didn’t have fast food outlets yet, in those days and for several years it was only available in a restaurant called The Speck (not a very appetizing name, now that I think of it). We went there a few times over the years. We never called it KFC or anything like that, we called it “Speck chicken.” It was quite a while before I realized it was a national franchise sort of thing. I agree with **Irishman** , the first thing I thought of when this new Colonel Sanders opened his mouth is “why did they make him sound like Bush?” ---

The Sonic ads have been pretty bad ever since they replaced the long-suffering wife and husband with the current lineup of two boy/men who apparently spend their entire days eating at Sonic (and why aren’t they dead yet?). But strangely, my suspension of disbelief didn’t get really strained until these morons started raving enthusiastically about [slushies with candy mixed in](http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/04/24/sonic-drive-in-slush-beverages-candy-fast-food-restaurants-dining/26122325/). Is it even possible that two grown men who, against all evidence, apparently have the maturity to have jobs and cars would willingly and enthusiastically drink what I imagine to be essentially syrup covered gummy bears? ``` Is there anyone above the age of 14 who wouldn't find the idea entirely gag-inducing? I think the dialog would be more like: "Hey, you want one of those Sonic slushies with about a million calories of crap mixed into it?". "Fuck no. Let's go get a beer." ``` ---

Remember that Harland Sander actually decided to BE a Kentucky Colonel when he was made one in 1950. ---

The newer ones with the two guys are largely just forgettable. ---

If this one hasn’t been mentioned, it should be. Chevy something - all these random people talking about how it’s like a luxury car or a Lexus or something, and variously they go on to describe it as “boss” or “dope” among other things - what decade are these people living in?? No one could muster up a “groovy” or “hip”?? Inane. ---

The Allstate(?) commercial where the dad says things like we are never having kids, we’re never getting married, we’re never moving to the suburbs and then at the end he says I’m never letting go. Are you guys not watching your own commercial? Dad doesn’t exactly have a stellar record at keeping his promises. Are deadbeat dads your target market? ---

Yoplait has one where the trippy woman is having a conversation with a milk cow. Not sure why, but she refers to the beast as “milk cow” just so we know that this big cow-shaped animal with an udder and teats is one that makes milk. The milk cow has a male voice. Didn’t know there were transgendered cows. 😃 ---
