Appropos of not much, the one with Elisha and the widow’s son has a funny coda later on. The widow leaves the country because of famine, and when she comes back squatters have stolen her house. Meanwhile back at the [del]ranch[/del] palace, Elisha’s disgraced ex-disciple Gaichazi is telling the king “Elisha stories.” He finishes the one with the widow just as said widow and son are walking up to them… Needless to say, they live happily ever after. Er, end of hijack. ---

A couple of other notes. As always, it is surprising how despite the fact that Danny lives with his aunt and uncle who appear to be bible thumpers who will name drop Jesus at the drop of a hat, that Danny is totally unaware of the whole concept of Jesus. Also, what’s the deal with Uncle John. Usually the pro-god people in a Chick tract are kind harmless looking old men. Uncle John looks like a mob boss. Aunt Emily on the other hand looks like a brainwashed chipmunk. ---

Chick is (except when it is inconvenient, of course) a hyper-literalist, and I think I recall the Bible speaks to the saved souls as being given robes prior to their bodies being restored in a much-later resurrection. I loved the part wherein we are finally told explicitly that the soul, while resembling a physical body in some ways, is _ **indestructible** _. (It is still subject to the pain of burning, however.) I do recall a couple of Legion of Super-Heroes guide-books for a version of D&D, giving relative scales for shared super-powers. A relatively small # of super-heroes and villains could duplicate all he could do. (I’m sure that JTC sees the “Danny’s” of the world as just not very bright. I’d say that the main problem is that it is inherently convoluted because it makes no real sense. This is a conviction that took many years for me to come to, because of early religious brainwashing that made it seem as natural as anything.) Of course, in the Chickiverse, those who are eventually “saved” are quick to ask for clarification in a cooperative manner. (Panel 10A) Even those who reject it will listen carefully first, then stay “unsaved” only because they want to keep on sinning, or are worried about what their friends will think. _ **- The Other White Jack** _ ---

And why is it that when he gets caught and they say “now you will walk with us, we will be famileeeeee” this is some terrible nightmare? If I was having the same dream and found out that all the monsters wanted was to be friends and have someone to walk with instead of becoming their snack, I’d be pretty relieved… ---
