Law & Order: How many defendants shot on the courthouse steps?

[QUOTE=bouv]
Similar to the SVU with Fred Savage. He’s accused of raping several women, but the line-up for most of them is invalid because one of them accidentally talks to the others after she points him out. He is not guilty because of faulty evidence, and his lawyer believed him the whole time, but at the end, she killed him because he tried to rape her.

I thought the one with Fred Savage was the episode where he was giving his wife jewelry that he stole from the victims. He beats the charges, but his wife and one of the victims kill him, then wash their hands with bleach to screw up the gun residue test.

Another where the criminal dies is the one episode where the six year old boy kills a girl at his school. He’s let go, only to be killed by another kid looking for revenge.

nope, that’s the one w/ Tracey Pollard. Reiterate comments about not having a personal life. The Fred Savage episode is one of my favorites. haven’t been able to trace the one w/the released father who is (at the end)shot by daugther, none of the episode names seem right, can’t remember any notable guest stars.
damn coding

There was a great exchange in Tuesday’s SVU:

Pro-Life Lady: We want donors to have the embryos implanted, carry them for nine months, and then release them for adoption.
Black Dedective Dude: That will made a lot of gays and lesbians happy.
PLL: We only want the babies to go to suitable homes
BDD: Suitable as in straight white Christian couples.
PLL: We are not prejudiced! Christians come in all colors!

The joke about people being shot on the courthouse steps so frequently has been around for years, but I can’t remember enough episodes to account for how this gimmick became so strongly associated with Law & Order. I’m surprised I’m not finding an online list of such incidents on Google.

My wife and I have been inundated with police procedurals lately, including but not limited to L&O: SVU. I was struck at how often people get raped to death in prison.

Oh and the episode I had last night had the Magic Trifecta:

  1. Defendent shot on steps of the courthouse
  2. Race against time to save a victim
  3. Tie-in the the war in the Middle East

as a bonus - the case hits especially close to home to either Detective Benson (rape) or Detective Stabler (pedophiles)

Bingo! You’ve just detailed all the reasons I no longer care to watch what I’ve taken to calling The Perv of the Week Club.
