Law & Order: the Fire Left with Lenny

In “Crime Scenes” the Law & Order coffee table book (highly recommended reading, BTW), Dick Wolf, gives the full backstory on every main character from the beginning up to last season’s cast.

With Abbie Carmichael, he wanted to provide a different sort of counterpoint to McCoy, in that his previous two assistants felt he often went too far in pursuit of a conviction. In Carmichael’s case, if Jack was "Hang 'em High, she was “Hang 'em Higher.”

What did he write for Serena’s backstory? “I wanted her character to suck”?

Yowsah. Looks like I’ll be watching Law & Order pretty religiously next season.

From what I heard, he hired Rohm because it was time for a blonde.

Serena’s departure might actually get me watching Law & Order again.

Completely agree with this, and that’s why i’m so happy that i got cable recently and can now catch up with all the old Chris Noth/George Dzundza/Paul Sorvino/Jerry Orbach/Ben Bratt episodes.

Give me a fucking break! Could they just, for once, choose a Deputy ADA who:

a) doesn’t look like a refugee from a Victoria’s Secret catalog

and

b) looks old enough to actually have finished a law degree?
