Lawnmowers 2 vs 4 stroke?

Can you put a catalytic converter on a 2 stroke, or will 2 stroke oil poison a catcon?

I have a 2 stroke chainsaw with a catalytic converter. Most new chainsaws run on a 50:1 gas to oil mix, unlike the 25:1 or 16:1 smoke blowers of the past.
