Lea Fastow wants out early

Sheesh, how about a little proportion?

She didn’t defraud investors for billions of dollars. That was her miserable husband. She is doing time because she lied on her income tax return. That’s a misdemeanor. So yeah, she probably is getting a tougher time of it just because she is rich and this judge is trying to make an example of her.

Well, if I don’t have anything to lose, jail doesn’t seem that bad. These people were making 7 figures a year already, the prospect of jail when looking for more money is a bit less attractive when you already have money coming out your ears. Not to mention that once you get out of the clink, it might be a wee bit harder to get that 7 figure job.

They have a lot more to lose than you or I. Therefore, I consider a year in jail, for a subordinate helping the investigation, a fairly solid disincentive. Now, if the guys higher up get sentences this light I’ll be pissed.

I haven’t been following super closely, but I assume she had some knowledge of the goings on (as assistant treasurer) and plead to the tax charge as part of the agreement to help prosecutors.

With respect to weighing the risk of jail against the possible return in dollars, you have to realize that for the majority of criminals, this isn’t really an issue, because they don’t expect to get caught at all!

Lea Fastow wants out early. And I want a pony.
Some times we just don’t fucking get what we want, now do we Lea?

I damn sure hope the judge lets her sit in there for the entirety of her sentence. At least when she gets out she can go back to being a worthless piece of shit socialite. UNlike the people she helped defraud of their money, she can still get by with out having to work.
I hope she contracts syphaherpamidia. “You will go to hell. You will go to hell and die!”

Isn’t that the only crime that Al Capone was convicted of?

Stupid whore. Somebody needs a good beating.

No, we’re talking about prisons specifically, here, not punishment for crimes in general. People are punished for crimes in a variety of ways–fines, restitution, probationary restrictions, etc. When it it comes to prisons specifically, I think losing ones freedom is punishing enough…

Her husband has been sentenced to 10 years and that’s with cooperation.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say she didn’t defraud investors; after all, she was an assistant treasurer with Enron. This was a plea bargain deal.

Convicts are sent to prison as punishment, not to be punished there.

QtM, in prison now for nearly 3 years. Well, in and out of prison. And never there overnight. Or even much later than 4:30 PM, actually.
