Great voice, lot of emotion. Dennis Locorriere, the lead singer and guitarist of Dr. Hook, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the age of 76. His death followed a long battle with kidney disease, an illness that prompted his retirement from the road in November 2025 I searched and didn’t see a thread. ---

Unless I misread, all of the original members have shuffled off including Sylvia’s mother. Which was based on real events by an actual Sylvia. ---

I saw him with the Ringo Starr All Star Band. They were excellent. Is it bad that my favorite song from him was “Cover of the Rolling Stone”? ---

No, whats really bad is I remember really liking the song Only Sixteen when I was an early teen. At the time for me a 16 y/o was an older woman, a mysterious and fascinating creature! Kind of creepy now! 🙃 But what a great group with a string of good songs. RiP. ---

_Hey Ray, hey Sugar_ _Tell 'em who we are…_ Talk about “A **[great song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUjcjUF-urU)** – I don’t care _who_ you are…” As a teen, I managed a Budget Rent-a-Car location that was a desk in the ground floor lobby of the plush **[Summerhouse Inn](https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2022/05/17/hotel-la-jolla-marks-50th-anniversary-with-a-full-revamp-on-the-way/)**, in La Jolla, California. The top floor was a wonderful Jazz club and restaurant called **[Elario’s](https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-12-05-ca-688-story.html)**. I was up there frequently. As was Dr. Hook. RIP, Dennis. ---

> [@Si\_Amigo](#): > > But what a great group with a string of good songs And most of their hits penned by Shel Silverstein. One of their most poignant, The Ballad of Lucy Jordan: ![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/FDS2hSmokQ0/maxresdefault.jpg)https://www.youtube.com/embed/FDS2hSmokQ0?feature=oembed&wmode=opaque&list=RDFDS2hSmokQ0 ---
