There used to be **Shagnasty’s** , a liquor store in Madison, WI. I drove by last year and it looked like it was gone, though. ---

When I first moved to Austin in August, I cracked up at this: Driving West on Burnett there was first a porn shop named something unremarkable involving at least three x’s. Next store? A lumber store called Hardwood Distributers. Sadly, the porn shop is now gone. Too much competition? ---

**picker** , I laugh about Baker & Launder too. I also like Willie Wash (car wash) and The Stool Store (chairs and stools). I can’t think of any ice cream places, but on the road between Madison and Door County, several places advertise ho-made pies. And we also drive through Dykesville to get there. ---

The law firm that advertised on the back of our phone books for years was Duffus & Duffus. I wonder if business is any better now that they are Duffus & Melvin? I would also steer clear of Bumpass Motors (auto dealer in Virginia). ---

Hey, I actually know someone named Bich Nga. Why is Pho Bich Nga funny? I’m not getting that one. Pho King, I get, but not Pho Bich Nga. My Dung is a possible Vietnamese name. So are Phuc and Phat. I swear I saw construction equipment in Portland, OR branded as Putzmeister :wally Is that a real company or did I dream it up? ---

I live a few blocks away from the world famous intersection of Seaman Ave. and Cumming St. in northern Manhattan. My butcher is located even more improbably on the corner of Broadway and Dyckman Street. His shop? The Broadyke Meat Market ---

Westchester, California had a childrens furniture store called SID’S. Not exactly the place you want to buy a crib from. They’ve since changed the name to “Sid & Me” ---

In Long Beach, there’s an apartment complex called the “Gaytonia” - I think at one time the name had no intentional association, but I also think I’ve heard that now, it’s got the implication anyone would figure. The Phuket Thai in Long Beach sells tee-shirts with the tag line: “Say ‘Pooket Tie’, don’t ask me why.” I’d alway thought Terrible Herbst was a pretty strange name for a set of gas stations - in a fairly strange town - so thanks for repairing my ignorance, once again. ---

There used to be a chain of hair salons in Massachusetts named **All American Clip Joint**. Near Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont is **Wok & Roll**. While not inappropriate, I wonder how **Chuck N Cheese** doesn’t get a cease-and-desist order from the obvious parallel.
