It’s that time of year for teams to fire the coaches in hopes of improving their record. I must admit I don’t pay that much attention to exactly what coaches. So which coaches have the least tenure?

I’ve read that Green Bay’s coach Matt LaFleur might have to worry about his job.

I don’t think he did a bad job (they made the playoffs) but I guess someone has to be the scapegoat.

Not really, considering he got a contract extension a couple of days ago.

I had not seen that. Good. I am no Green bay fan but I don’t think LaFleur should have been punished for this last season.

100% agreed on both counts.

For the most part, that time of year has, in fact, already passed.

The Bills fired Sean McDermott today, after their playoff loss this past weekend, but most of the guys who were shown the door had it happen two weeks ago, immediately after the end of the regular season (or even during the season, with interim coaches playing out the string).

Two teams (the Giants and Falcons) have already named new head coaches, and there are, at this moment, another eight vacancies: seven due to firings, and one due to retirement (the Steelers, where Mike Tomlin chose to step down last week, after their playoff loss).

At this juncture, it’s unlikely (though not impossible) that any other head coach is going to be let go this offseason.

Speaking as a Packer fan: yes, there had been buzz that LaFleur might be on the hot seat, immediately after they blew a big lead and lost to the Bears in the wild card game nine days ago. That lasted only for a couple of days, and by late last week, it was pretty clear that the Packers were going to keep him, and give him a contract extension.
