"Leave the world behind" (produced by the Obamas) is freaking out the CT'ers

CT’ers are who or what, exactly?

Conspiracy theorists. This board is the only place I’ve seen it abbreviated.

One wonders if the CTers (conspiracy theorists) would have even noticed this film if the Obamas had had nothing to do with it. Since CTs (conspiracy theories) are usually based on random unrelated facts artificially linked together, or connected facts which have a straightforward explanation that CTers choose to dismiss, it seems to me the actual content of the film is almost irrelevant. Just the name Obama is enough to trigger the hidden-meaning frenzy.

But what exactly are they saying about it? I do not pay attention to anything they say and don’t even know where to find out.

There is no definitive answer to what causes the events in the film; just a bunch of theories that add to the unease of the situation. The Obama credits are almost a meta example of this.

When do they say that? I did not hear anything like that at all. There’s something about big money guys knowing something is about to happen but that could mean they knew of a military thing. They never say what caused it to happen.

But … so what? There are lots of apocalyptic films with a vague or offscreen cause for global disaster. Aren’t there?

What makes you think I care? I’m just noting that it is one of those films, and as such sprinkles clues to an unanswered question. Adding one of those potential clues to the credits may well have been intentional. When looking for backers for the film, I doubt the maker’s didn’t realizing they were getting a twofer (financing and something odd for viewers to chew on ) when the Obama’s signed on.

Unlike the final episode of Friends which wrapped everything up with a bow on top. If there was point to this film, it is that real life is messy and often unexplained.

That’s not what I meant by 'so what." I meant that the only thing markedly different about this film from others with open-ended doom scripts is the Obama name. Which, I am positing, is what attracted the CTers to it.

There’s a thriving industry on YouTube of anti-Woke nitpickers, reaching, reaching for that sweet crown of Jordan Peterson-level punditry. Their beef with this movie is the daughter voicing distrust of white people, as proof that the Obamas always wanted to wreck America in retribution for slavery.

The CT is, that the technological world is really going to come to an end, and the Obamas know it, and they know that no right wingers will see the film, so only the liberals will get the message and know how to prepare. The tools needed are all there in the film, people!

They literally spell it out in the car after they realize that Kevin Bacon knew more than he was letting on and the screen at the end says the Capital was being attacked. The movie leaves it vague until that moment and then it tells you what is happening.

They literally don’t.

In the car, Mahershala Ali talks about hearing of a military program used to get citizens of a country to turn on each other, which makes it seem like if anything it was started by the military.

The emergency alert says “White House and other majors cities under attack by rogue armed forces. Elevated radiation levels detected near major population centers.”

This is after everything else has happened. Nothing about that message says exactly what caused things to happen in the first place.
