PS - you want realness? Go to Cape Lookout sometime - about as close to when settlers’ arrived as you can get! It’s a GREAT daytrip (though not sure how far from Ocracoke or if possible). I usually stay at Harker’s Island…
We did like it! I had a yellowfin tuna steak that was absolutely delicious! It even looked so delicious that the rest of my family (all boys/men) kept casually asking, “So how’s yours?” in an effort to get me to offer them a bite. :dubious:
It didn’t work!
nom, nom, nom
Is Cape Lookout the island south-ish of Ocracoke? If so, I think I read a bit about it, and it’s an historic preservation site, now, right? We didn’t venture that far afield, but since we are going back next summer, I will put it on my to-do list!
Yes - no paved roads and no electricity/plumbing except in the lighthouse/visitor’s center. If you go, sign up for the “Mule Train”. It’s an excellent 4wd tour of the island and well worth the $!
Hahahaha! Glad u liked it! I love their fried shrimp, myself!
