Ok I’m driving in a new town today. Lansing Michigan. I’m here as a consultant working at MSU Museum. I’ll be here for two weeks. I rented a Jeep Cherokee and I love it. So I turn on the classic rock station and what do I hear. Led Zeppelin! I’m 30 years old I’ve heard Led Zeppelin my whole life. I have an older brother who passed the classic-rock torch on to myself. Yes ,yes I lament, I still like G & R , Metallica, ACDC, and all the rest…But of course Zeppelin is the best! Anyway, back to the OP. Holy Sh\*t!! Is that a norm of sorts for Led Zeppelin? Had they alluded to LOTR before? Am I the only one to be thoroughly impressed by this? As a lifelong Tolkien fan. I am so happy to see the master’s of Rock Jimmy Page and Robert Plant incorporating the great one in one of their songs. So what say you all? Can someone point me to any other Zellepin songs that do the same? What a fantastic revelation on my way back to my hotel… I’m actually sitting at the hotel bar right now drinking a Black n’Tan and waiting for my dinner…Thanks Zeppelin…you guys rock! ---

Uh, yeah, I’m inclined to agree with **AndrewT**. 😉 I’m inclined to agree with the interpretations from the “What is Stairway to Heaven about” thread that it’s not about LOTR (based on the author’s own comments), and I’m not sure about Kashmir either, but there are definitely a number of Tolkien references in Zeppelin’s songs. This was back in the day when people would graffiti “Frodo Lives!” on the subway, after all. ---

Thanks Andy… I feel kinda numskulled now. All these years and I never put the two together. :smack: :rolleyes: Oh well. I’ll drag out the box set when I get back from being on travel. Led Zep rocks even more for this buy I’ll tell you that much! ---
