Not to hijack the thread entirely or anything, but I have a different Led Zepplin song question. In The Ocean (on Houses of the Holy) at 1:38 and 1:41, is that a telephone ringing in the background of the recording? It sounds like it to me, very faint, in the next room or something. Or am I totally just hearing things every time I hear that particular song?

To be slightly on-topic, if that really is Mr Plant having the Big O in the song… well, he’s a very odd sounding man. Anyway, that part must have been totally shocking for the parents back then!

> I can tell you that half of Stairway, is ripped off from a group called ‘Spirit’ that they performed with in the 60’s. The song, I forget the title, is off the group’s eponymous album, Spirit. The song, I believe, is Taurus, but it starts slightly farther in than Amazon’s sampler, which ends just at that point.

A lot of good bands came out of LA back then, all forgotten except Buffalo Springfield and the Doors. Frank Zappa was right - they were unfairly overshadowed by San Francisco.

Hah! The sexiest sounds on record are the background “vocals” on **Frank Zappa** ’s track _The Torture Never Stops_. It’s a good and long and forms a great, uh, soundtrack when you’re Loving The One You’re With.
