Steve Jobs did a good job and that time without him really showed how much Apple needed him. I am not saying that he started the “tech presentation” to introduce new technology, but I certainly connect the idea with him.
I still remember him introducing the Iphone and Ipod Touch. In fact, I remember him having the Ipod in his pocket during the original presentation for that.

Victor Kiam was the chairman of Remington, a company that made electric razors, and appeared in the commercials delivering the tagline, “I liked the razors so much, I bought the company.” (That might have been a regional commercial and product, though. I think some others, like Madman Muntz and Tom Carvel, were also regional.) Another one I remember is Herb Kelleher, the chairman and founder of Southwest Airlines.

I guess we’re not including people who were celebrities first, and later capitalized on their fame to start successful businesses? Kylie Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Horton, etc.

I would say that some of that is less of a business and more of a cult of personality type thing. Without their fame, would they sell anything?

The guy who did the commercials was not Eddie Antar, it was a New York DJ named Jerry Carroll.

Yes; but I believe Eddie did write (as much as you can ever script what a “zoo DJ” says) and design most of them. Like with his (Antar’s) fall some of that has become a mixture of myth and history.
