hey meara… good to see you over here too. I happen to be saved… but also happen to have some differing views that get me into some ummm… “interesting” conversations on LB… as you may have noticed. Hope to see you posting over there though still. I know that I have learned so much from having to sit and think about what I believe and why before I post. And I know I have learned much from others over there and am learning from some here. Scary part is when you start to agree with Satan though 😉 Beth ---

hi everyone- yes, I’m one of those “LB” people (and yes, I admit it, I have partaken in the holy \<\\>)- I’ve been following along with this rediculous inter-message board war since New Years (mostly for entertainment purposes) and finally had to register. **Pita** : Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Board. Here’s quick lesson number one: Unlike the Pounder board, this board allows HTML. While that allows people who know how to use it to do some really cool stuff in their posts, it is tough to get used to for those of us who don’t know the language. Generally, you want to avoid using those carets (the pointy parentheses), because if you don’t use them just right everything between them disappears. The forum “About This Message Board” has several threads dedicated to practicing. Feel free to post there to your heart’s content until you’re comfortable. ## Welcome again! What, that I thought you thought I was coming on to you? Given your respect for me, I doubt you would think so, although I will cheerfully toss off mildly sexually suggestive comments to anyone within range. It did, however, occur to me that you were saying I should hang out with a better class of men… 😉 Seriously, it was a good story, but I am familiar with the attributes Jesus is supposed to have (at least in modern sympathetic renderings), and that is exactly what I would have expected Him to say. ---

You know, Lib., the problem with that story is that the lady in question (in the Bible version of that story) is not Mary M. at all but an otherwise nameless person called the Samaritan woman (that being where she lived). Jesus notes to her that she had six husbands and the man she was living with at the time they talked was not her husband. This little exchange convinces her he knows what he’s talking about. ---
