# Left Coast DopeFest?

_If_ we were to organize a DopeFest somewhere along the I-5 corridor sometime in, say, June or July, where should we hold it? It would be nice to have a large gettogether that would include everyone from the Seattleites to the San Franciscoans, IMHO.

If you want a true Left Coast 'fest, a central location between its largest outlying cities would be ideal and according to mapquest, the closest major city fitting that criterion is Sacramento, which is 750 miles south of Seattle and 500 north of San Diego.
Reno’s another choice too. It’s still only 750 miles south of Seattle, only adds 100 miles to a trip from San Diego but also makes it more accessible to anyone in Salt Lake City and Phoenix by moving everything 150 miles to the east.

Mount Shasta, pretty please. I’ve never been and I’m picturing Dopers doping amid majestic beauty. The words “majestic beauty” do not come to mind when picturing Sacramento or Reno, sorry.

Gilroy is killer HOT during the Garlic fest. Sacto is too, but that can be offset by being near the river. And in one of their find brewpubs. 😃

Seeing as how I am in Morgan Hill (10min drive away) I whole heartly vote Gilroy.
Not that I am sure I would be able to go, but it would certainly make it much more feasable.

Hmmmm…I suppose you \*could \* do Sacramento…but about 15 miles West is a little college town with a nice German-style brewpub, ample parking and pleasant, suburban tree-lined streets. Davis…I think it’s called…?
There’s also a very nice Food Co-op, but their Beer Buyer is a drunk and a pot-head and you can tell him I said so.

There was a NorCal/SoCal Dopefest in July 2001 in San Luis Obispo. Most of the folks did stay at the Madonna, and much of the partying happened there. (In the pick n’ shovel room if memory serves.) It was one of the best Dopefests I’ve been too.

I’d be up for anything between Sacramento (OK, or Davis)and San Luis Obispo.
If we want a one-nighter right in the middle of California on the I-5 corridor, I can recommend an outstanding Basque restaurant. Not much in the way of hotels around Los Banos though.

Well, anything south of San Francisco would pretty much rule out non-Californians.
Santa Rosa’s actually not a bad idea- I don’t think it’s that much farther than Sacramento from most places, and it’s a damned nice place.
And we can all crash at Demo and psycat’s! :d&r:’
Tahoe could work, too.
