Left-handed dopers: tell me about your V's

I had my kid (left handed, five years old) write a V for me. He did the left line first, then the right. Both from top to bottom.

L-R.

My lowercase v’s are pretty much indistinguishable from r’s. This can be a problem in keeping records for my family’s company. We often employ a man with the last name Moring, and we also occasionally incur expenses for moving. This has caused confusion at tax time.

Left to right. Who would do it from right to left?

Left to right.

And that’s even after my six-grade teacher taught me to write cursive properly, which no one had ever done prior to that. Strange concept – she actually taught left-handers differently than right-handers, so that our writing would end up legible! I’ve shocked people for years by having really nice handwriting even though I’m left-handed.

All our writing/reading in English is left to right. It would be weird to do it any other way.

Another left to right here. Who does it any other way? Another related question, how do you make your check marks? long tail on the left or the right?

Right

Lefty here. I write my v’s from left to right, but my check marks have the tail on the left.

Left to right. And my ticks have the tail on the right - just like a (square) root sign.

v’s left to right; check marks have tails on right.

Ditto.

I think it’s interesting to note how many lefties write with the hand curved vs straight up and down. I’m a straight up and downer. My mom’s a curver.

Let me be the first to say…

Left to right.

Let’s see…

I write v’s left to right… (just like everyone else)
The tail on my checkmarks are on the right.
And I don’t curl my hand around when I’m writing.

Ambidexterous checking in.

Left to right.

Right to left is just so…awkward.

Left to right, same with check marks.

Left to right, check tail on the right. A very perceptive nun taught me to turn my paper rather than curl my hand when writing. That way there’s no smudging or cramping and my handwriting is fine…thought it looks to others like I’m writing downhill. Here’s a question…do you write normally or backhand? I’ve been known to switch when writing at length.

It depends. Regardless of which hand I’m using I often change the position of my hand or the writing style more for comfort than anything else.

Left to right. Are you suggesting there is another way? Also: my check marks have the long tail on the right.

Left to right.

Get him, he’s on to us…
