Left Handers vs. Right Handers

I would like to disaccord that. I played hockey. I’m a lefty.
Just for the record I was a swell striker

Left Handers Rule!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Thanks for pointing that out Harmonix, I’d completely missed Fatwater Fewl’s post. I plead that I was asleep at the time. Excellent riposte Fatwater Fewl.

I don’t think that the research of Roger Sperry, 1981 Nobel laureate, and Ronald Meyers has been controverted. You might be thinking of the four quadrant model, but it is basically just an enhancement of Sperry’s model.

If standard split brain experiments won’t convince you, then consider the experiments of Michael Gozzaniga, who did graduate work under Sperry.

You can find a lot of information here.

Interesting.

If you take a look at the talented musicians of the past century, a much higher percentage are left handed compared to the general population. I’m not an expert at other creative fields, but I think the same is true. My point is that left-handedness=higher likelihood that that person is very creative, or at least more able to use that skill.

Cite, please?

Is being left or right handed affected by genes? I’m a lefty greets all other lefties as far as i know, no one ever in my family tree was a lefty.

Another leftie here. Is the plan all set? Are the scouts all ready to start “project R-Hand Sabotage”? Our army has grouped. The password is “left thumb”.

O’er an’ out.

(ah I need somethign better to do with my time)

Maybe theres this secret energy source thats drawing all lefties to this forum to dominate the world don’t you think so clayton_e? :stuck_out_tongue:

Cecil Adams on Do Left-Handed People Die Younger?

I second that.
And I was also wondering the same, no in my family tree is left handed, hell but i am!
And strangely so, I am the only onein my family tree pursueing art. I take it for granted left handers as a general notion are highly creative, but are they smarter as well?

Gee, I wonder what answer twelfthsign is looking for… :stuck_out_tongue:

A ‘yes’ would be nice
unless ofcourse it can be proved otherwise.

Hello, I’m a leftie.

In cricket, its considered an advantage to have a left handed and right handed person batting at each end. When someone gets one run, the entire field has to swap around, causing disruption and so on.

As for begin creative, I can draw (to some extent) and used to love writing stories at school, but my degree was in Physics.

I am very clumsy- I bang into things, have opened a door onto my face, bang my head on the wall when I turn over in my sleep so it wakes me up and walk into furniture that has always been in same place. I don’t know if thats just because I bumble around without looking where I’m going or because I’m inherently clumsy due to my leftiness.

Its a right-handed world though- locks on doors, controls on microwaves, flushes on toilets. At school, even though I could use right handed scissors I was made to use the blunt, useless left handed ones. The only thing I have better control of with my right rather than left hand is a computer mouse. In school and Uni, they were always positioned on the right side so I just learnt to use them with my right hand. My own PC has the mouse on the right side. I can’t actually use it at all with my left hand. Weird, eh?

I was also born upside down.

The only real “edge” that lefties seem to have is that, if they’re the victim of a stroke that injures their dominate side, lefties adapt better than righties to using their non-dominate hand. And that’s not even a genetic thing, it’s because all our lives we’ve been forced though neccessity to learn how to do some things with our right hands, since not everything can be adapted to use with our dominate hand.

Hobgoblin, I’m sorry, but your clumsy. Thats certainly not a left handed trait. Well although I could be clumsy as well, but I wouldn’t attribute that to being left handed, I’ve known some awefully despicable right handers.

And hell I hate computer labs which have ‘mice’ adapted to right handers.

Whats strange however is that I play Tennis right handed, and find it quite wierd when my opponent is a lefty. Beats me.

Another thing, I asked around about all the left handers I know, and they all seem to be ambidextrous. And if you read this thread, a sweel number of them seem to be ambidextrous.

Are all left handers ambidextrous?

I am left handed - according to my mum I used to be ambidexterous.
