# Length of threads and access time

In [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=223426) Pit thread about the long thread closings, a point is being alluded to about thread length slowing down the SDMB.

Is this really an issue in vB? Or do all the posts and threads add up together anyways?

Not a pitting, I’m really curious.

And no guesses please. I can guess myself. I’m seeking the real, true straight dope. 🙂
