That’s what I heard. I thought it was a bit odd - he’s a huge car guy and he’s appeared on the original Top Gear already. Figured it would be right up his alley.
Leno said no because he figured the show would not be done the right way , he thought it would be a cheap imitation of the British version.
I guess he might have done the show if he controlled the content, but I guess they just wanted him to be the host.

I wish Letterman would appear on Conan’s final Tonight Show. It’d be funny if he walked in, paused, and then have the following exchange:
Letterman: Hey, do you ever get the feeling you’ve been ripped off

Conan: Yes, yes, I do.
Letterman: (sighs) Me too.
Letterman exits.

As a gesture of support and also of me being an ass at every available opportunity, I went to the Tonight Show site this afternoon and put in a request for tickets.
Pretty good monologue but that bit with Pee Wee Herrman killed. Totally weird and wonderful. I suspect Robon Williams will entertaining once he comes out.

I’m dying to know if he really bought that freaking horse. The mink snuggie and the Super Bowl footage can’t have cost that much in comparison to a Derby winner. Should be great if he can manage to top that for tomorrow night.
