Just saw the video of his induction, he would be GREAT as George Clooneys’ dad.
I just want to say that I think Cohen is transcendent, and after listening to his music everything seems to reek of anticlimax . . . seriously, I am unfortunately not one-tenth as eloquent as he is, so I can’t articulate how I feel about him, but . . . wow
Gestalt.
My favorite use of Everybody Knows is in the movie Exotica. A stripper in schoolgirl garb peels to it nightly.
I’ve nothing to add, but I just had to chime in a thread about Leonard Cohen.
Is there anybody here like me who likes Cohen’s lyrics and songwriting, but can’t get through all the 80s-fied synth/bass/cheesy background vocals stuff?
I saw this thread and bought “Songs of Love and Hate” on itunes, which I love. But previewing some of his newer (read: since I’ve been alive) music, I appreciate the songwriting, but can’t keep from dwelling on the terrible music. It’s like all the music I was rebelling against in the early 90s and my teenage self deep down won’t let me like it.
Sorry to threadshit. I really do like Leonard Cohen; I guess there are still a few folky albums from the 60s and 70s I can buy.
