He hadn’t been looking very well in recent footage I’ve seen of him. Yes, he was 83; but I’m still sad to see he’s dead. [Spock lives](http://a.tgcdn.net/images/products/additional/large/hrrm_spock_lives_ringer_tee_dd.jpg) ---

Never a big fan of Trek, but you’d have to be an idiot to not realize the massive contribution he had to society. IIRC he also was a wonderful person to interact with and realized his place in the nerd world, embraced it, and as a result embraced THEM. ---

I’m sad, that’s all. I first saw him on _Star Trek_, but have thoroughly enjoyed his career from a one-off role on _Dragnet_ in the 1950’s all the way up through _Fringe_ and _Star Trek: Into Darkness_ He lived long, and prospered. ---

Very sad news. He was always my favorite part of Star Trek, from the time I discovered it in the late '70s. RIP, Mr. Nimoy. ☹ [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/leonard-nimoy-has-died/713778.md?page=2)
